Course Description:
PHI101: Introduction to Philosophy is a comprehensive survey course designed to introduce students to the fundamental questions, methods, and traditions of philosophical inquiry.
This course examines the major branches of philosophy including metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, logic, and the philosophy of religion.
Students will engage with both classical and contemporary philosophical texts, developing critical thinking skills and learning to construct and evaluate philosophical arguments.
Through video lectures, readings, and written assignments, students will explore timeless questions about reality, knowledge, morality, and human existence.
Course Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Identify and explain the major branches of philosophy and their central questions
Analyze and evaluate philosophical arguments using logical reasoning
Demonstrate understanding of key philosophers and their contributions to Western philosophical thought
Apply philosophical concepts to contemporary issues and personal experience
